Participating in an already planned food drive or creating your own is a great way to give back to your community. The following are active food drives that are either currently happening or will be held in the near future in Kalamazoo County. Big Lots: 4425 S. Westnedge, www.biglots.com, shop some great deals and drop off food donations to the KLF food barrel.
Kalamazoo Dance: The Point Community Center, 2595 N. 10th St., bring your non-perishable food donations to one of Kalamazoo Dance’s lessons this spring. Lesson dates are May 12. The cost is $10 for the general public, $7 for students, and $5 for USA Dance members. No partner is needed and light refreshments will be served.
Med Join Community Compassion Center: 6857 W. Main St., drop off any non-perishable food item here as part of their ongoing food drive.
Roller World: 7491 Stadium Dr., admission is lowered or waived every Tuesday with a food donation for Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes. Check their website, www.rollerworld.net, to see what their “Can of the Week” discount deal is.
Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes’ warehouse at 901 Portage St. is open to accept donations, both food and funds, every weekday from 8 am to 3:30 pm, and the second Saturday of every month from 9 am to noon.
