Good Food Kalamazoo (GFK) is a collaboration among representatives from four local agencies working toward a healthy local food system in Kalamazoo County. Our partners are:
The goal of GFK is to engage and empower our community to provide itself with food that is healthy, green, fair, and affordable. Our current focus is the 2012/13 Food & Farm Bill, our nation’s largest piece of legislation concerning the food we eat.
While our individual organizations have different focuses, we share three goals stated in the Michigan Good Food Charter (click here for more information):
- A thriving economy: Our farms and food businesses sustain farmers, owners, and workers and contribute to vibrant Michigan communities.
- Sustainability: We have a diverse and resilient food system that protects our cultural, ecological and economic assets.
- Equity: All people have access to good, Michigan-grown food, and our young people can thrive.
